About Ripley Village
If you are a resident I assume you already have a great deal of knowledge regarding this great village. For visitors to Ripley, walkers, antique hunters, diners and drinkers a little information is provided.
Ripley is a village and parish in Surrey, close to the A3 from London to Portsmouth and near the junction of the M25 motorway.
Close towns are Guildford (about 23 miles away) and Woking (6miles), other villages close by are Send, Send marsh, Ockham and Cobham.
The village includes The Talbot Hotel, a coaching inn dating back to 1453, plus a few other traditional pubs such as The Ship and The Anchor (with an excellent Thai restaurant. There is a specialist shoe manufacturer, Clifford James, a new deli in the Cedar House and a PADI Dive centre. A gourmet fixture of the village is Drake's restaurant, manned by Chef Steven Drake, which has been awarded a Michelin star.
The main focus of the village is, of course, the village green.
During the year there are many events and activities staged there including the monthly farmers market and the annual bonfire in late October that attracts thousands of visitors.
The green has also been home to Ripley Cricket Club since the 1870's and features an active clubhouse and bar.
With many restauarants, hotels, pubs, art galleries and antique shops plus some of the best walking trails around Ripley village is a great place for all the family.
